The 2017-2018 CSU Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Just two years after the establishment of then Columbus College, the CSU Alumni Association was founded in 1960, with the central purpose of engaging the University's alumni. Over the years, the Association has evolved to accommodate the changing needs of its alumni base, which today totals over 35,000 degree-holders.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Columbus State University Alumni Association, Inc. is to support, foster and promote the aims and objectives of Columbus State University and to establish mutually beneficial relationships between the University and its alumni. Our goal is to keep alumni connected, informed and involved with Columbus State University.

Board of Directors

CSU's Alumni Association works with the University's Office of Alumni Engagement to build and maintain a base of loyal and active alumni who continue to support and participate in the affairs of the University. The Association's current Board of Directors is led by:

Apply to be on the board of directors

If you're looking to take your involvement to the next level, consider applying for a position on our Board of Directors. Applications are due March 31st yearly.

Board Member requirements:

  • Annual support of Columbus State.
  • Participation in programs and sponsored activities of the Office of Alumni Engagement and Columbus State.
  • Be an ambassador and advocate on behalf of Columbus State and the Alumni Association.
  • Attend three scheduled board meetings each year.
  • Offer ideas and help to make the Board and the Alumni Association more meaningful to alumni and the Columbus State University community.

All candidates must be Columbus State University graduates. The Nominating Committee takes into consideration prior engagement and support of CSU when choosing future board members as this demonstrates a prior understanding and commitment to the mission of the CSU Alumni Association.

Councils and Committees

Under the umbrella of the Alumni Association Board of Directors are three councils and committees. Each was developed out of a need identified by the Board of Directors. Each council and committee is made up of board and non-board members. For more information on serving on a committee, please contact Alumni@ColumbusState.edu or call (706) 507-8946.

  • Student to Alumni Engagement Committee: The Student to Alumni Engagement Committee works closely with the student organization, the Student Alumni Association. This committee develops ways for alumni to connect back with students. Educating students on the importance of being engaged alumni and about the Alumni Association. Annually, this committee assists with the Professional Development Dinner, a partnership between the Alumni Association and the Center for Career Development.
  • Young Alumni Council: The Young Alumni Council was established in 2017 as a way to engage new alumni and alumni under 40 with specific opportunities targeted to their needs and interests.. While CSU is graduating more and more students each year, this is a demographic that is steadily growing. The Young Alumni Council hosts events such as sports trips to Atlanta United, networking events, and Manic Monday, an event to welcome new graduates to the Alumni Association.
  • Black Alumni Council: Established in 2019, the Black Alumni Council is the affinity group of the CSU Alumni Association for black graduates. Through recruiting, retaining, engaging, donating, and serving, BAC connects alumni and students with shared experiences to continue building a welcoming and supportive campus community. Each year, the Black Alumni Council hosts Sips Before Steps, a reception prior to the Homecoming Step Show and other networking events for graduates.
