Councils and Committees

Under the umbrella of the Alumni Association Board of Directors are three affinity groups. These groups like the Black Alumni Council and the Young Alumni Council seek to connect specific audiences of alumni and students for special interactions and engagement who have shared experiences to continue to build a welcoming and supportive CSU community.  One of their primary purposes is also to come up with ways to get these specific audiences to engage in the larger CSU alumni engagement program. Each was developed out of a need identified by the Board of Directors. Each council and committee is made up of board and non-board members. For more information on serving on a committee, please contact Alumni@ColumbusState.edu or call (706) 507-8946.

  • Black Alumni Council: Established in 2019, the Black Alumni Council is the affinity group of the CSU Alumni Association for Black graduates. Through recruiting, retaining, engaging, donating, and serving, BAC connects alumni and students with shared experiences to continue building a welcoming and supportive campus community. This group plans programs throughout the year, including their signature Dare to Dialogue virtual panel series. Past subjects have included Financial Literacy in the Black Community and Mental Health.
  • Young Alumni Council: The Young Alumni Council was established in 2017 as a way to engage new alumni and alumni under 40 with specific opportunities targeted to their needs and interests. While CSU is graduating more and more students each year, this is a demographic that is steadily growing. The Young Alumni Council hosts events such as sports trips to Atlanta United, networking events, and Manic Monday, an event to welcome new graduates to the Alumni Association.
  • Student to Alumni Engagement Committee: The Student to Alumni Engagement Committee is a standing committee of the Alumni Association that serves to enhance alumni engagement, professional and social activities with students through teaching, mentorship, and networking.
